Holy Grail High-Waisted Jeans
Every woman needs a pair of jeans that fit her like a glove. Soft, comfortable, and able to look well both dressed up or worn casually; Every one of us girls know how hard it is to find them. So when you find a pair of those jeans, you hang onto them until they fall apart.
Today when my mum and I went shopping, I took the notion that I wanted a new pair of jeans that I could style as many different ways as possible. Now, let me just say I own a pair of jeans that I wear exclusively with heels because they are a wide flare from Forever 21. To turn them up would be one hell of a sacrilegious job. Those are my "going out" slash "funeral" jeans because I look silly in my interview suit trousers, going anywhere but an interview!
An Open Letter
Hey beautiful,
I know you are reading this because you struggle with something. You fight every day, with demons, unbeknownst to those around you. You hide away from people. I know, because I do it too. It helps. Or at least you think it helps. Let me correct myself. WE think it helps. But it doesn't help as much as we would like to believe it does. I know you keep your guard up, you keep people out. The mentality is "Well if I don't let them in, they can't leave, and then they can't hurt me...". It seems like the best option, the best way to safe guard your heart. I also know this. We're more alike than you think, eh?
So you have demons. Nobody knows what you deal with day-to-day. Do you cry when you're alone? Do you zone out of conversations to think about dying? Do you cut or burn yourself? Has something bad happened in your past? Have you something you need to tell someone, but are afraid to?
I know that what you're about to read is scary. But please, keep reading. Tell somebody. You have the power to make things better. The only way things will get better is if you share the problem. There's a good reason "A problem shared, is a problem halved" is such a great saying. The truth has a way of hiding itself in cliché little phrases. Silly, huh? But so true. Talking to someone will help, even if you don't believe me, I feel qualified to say this, because I thought the same, until I did it... Talking really helps, I promise you. Tell your best friend, your boyfriend, girlfriend, your sister or brother. Talk it out. Cry. Remember that pain is temporary.
Tell someone. Use a peer counselling service, if you have to. Things wont always suck so bad. Please, just remember that. Someone out there needs you to remember that. You are loved and treasured, even if people don't say it.
Love Always,
Amy,
xo

The Bra Walk 3.0
Hi guys!!
On April 25th just gone, my friends in the DIT (Dublin Institute of Technology) Camping Society hosted their 3rd annual "Bra Walk" in aid of Action Breast Cancer...
Back-Story: 3 years ago, the DIT Camping Soc hosted the first Bra Walk, to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Society, after Maeve Breslin (whose mum is currently battling cancer) came up with the idea of a fun, eye-catching way to raise money and call attention to the need to donate to this fantastic charity in a memorable, and tongue-in-cheek kind of way. This brilliant fundraiser was her brainchild!
The Bra Walk was a roaring success in its first year. It was fun for the walkers, and it was helping people who really need not only treatment, but also financial assistance during their time in and out of hospital. It was win-win.
Last year the walk was bigger, better and it raised yet more money than in it did in its first year to help the sufferers of breast cancer, and educate the public that breast cancer (the second most common cancer in Irish women), like the walkers clad in bras littering Dublin, can't be ignored.
So lets get onto the business at hand; This years walk.

Essence Nail Art Express Dry Drops Review
In my local chemist, there's a sizable Essence stand... Which, if you're as obsessed with nails as I am, you will know, that its a bad thing! Every time I go in, I find myself gawking at the nail polishes, the nail treatments, the lipsticks, everything!! For the last few weeks I've been wondering if the "Express Dry Drops" are what they claim to be. Some quick Google searches told me that they are pretty decent so I figured I'd find out for myself.

Accessories Haul... Feat. Yes To Carrot(top)s :P
Today I did all of my running around early, I paid my phone and Internet bill, I sent the application in for my driving test and I did some errands for my mother. When all was done my mum and I decided to go to Mullingar town and do a spot of shopping. "Fair enough," I decided, "Sure we haven't been to Mullingar in almost a year, why not?!"
We trundled down the road and in no time we had landed in Penneys!! We LOOOOVE Penneys... :D
So with a limit of €10, I set myself the challenge of getting some nice things to wear, since I'm always out to improve my appearance through fashion, accessories, makeup and beautification like manicures and facials...

Another Update... Including TWIM Vol. 2
Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in well over a week. I've been thinking about this blog for days and days but I've been so busy getting ready for Chris's ball, and then I was sick and exhausted, but I'm here now and I'm getting back on top of things. Yay!
First, let me start by posting some nail pics!
Both of these Essence polishes retail for €1.89 and the quality is amazing, completely rivaling the formula of some higher priced ones.
Next up!!

March Favorites
Now that the month of April is upon us, I think it's time to have a go at a monthly favourites type post!
I'm going to review products that I've loved consistently over the month of March and maybe, if I do okay at it, I'll make it a recurrence.
Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tanning Lotion.
This lotion is AMAZING! The consistency is not greasy, nor is it sticky. It leaves your skin like velvet and after about 3 days I noticed a distinct difference. The tan is not orange at all, no trace of the "Oompa Loompa" even on my glow in the dark skin!

Amy Through The Ages!!
Yesterday I bought a 500gb hard drive in a bid to save all the photos and music I love from being lost on my old laptop. Seriously, that thing is a relic, its over 10 years old and its on its way out! I hadn't used it in over 2 years when I hauled it out to rescue the photo files!
I think you can imagine what kinds of retro fabulous (I use the term loosely, I was an "emo" when this computer encased my whole life) digital gems I found!!
Have a blast from the past, see me, Amy, through the ages!!

This was the earliest one I could find. My 17th birthday... |

Change Doesn't Always Have To Jingle...
Change can come in many forms. It can come in the form of something radical, like a dramatic haircut, it can take the form of a newly decorated room, turning veggie or vegan, cutting out people from your life, or, as it has in my case, it can take the form of a revamped blog.
My blog, "My Happy Place", is a place on the Internet for me to escape to when I feel the need. I can spend an hour writing a post, publish it and feel like I have accomplished something, even when I'm just out to relax. Its the perfect medium for me, as a person who loves to write, (and bitch on the Internet when the mood takes me) to voice my thoughts and opinions. Many people choose to record vlogs, pod casts, keep a private journal, whatever works for them! This works for me. It's also a bonus that it may make someone smile, or inspire them to do something similar. Though even if this blog never reached the eyes of anyone but me, I would be OK with that too.
After 25 posts, you'd think I'd have the hang of it by now, but it has been a learning curve for me. As in life, nothing is ever perfect the first time around. 25 posts, and countless unpublished drafts later, and I'm only just getting around to making my web space a polished, easily navigable space. But I think its working out well.
