2013 Round Up

It's now a week into 2014, and I've been mulling over my favorites of the year just gone, so here we go!

Skincare

Garnier Skin Naturals Pure Active Toner and Shine-Control Moisturizer: I picked these up in Tesco at some point this year hoping to help sort out a pretty awful breakout I was having. They did the job quickly and have been a staple in my regime ever since.
Rimmel London Fix&Perfect Pro Primer: At first when I got this, I didn't like it in the slightest and I shoved it in a drawer. I found it again at the end of the spring and I decided to give it a second shot. This primer has done me no wrongs ever since. It's fabulous to smooth out lines and fill in pores and it makes my makeup last all day, no mean feat when I'm normally a grease ball by 3pm.]
Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan: I started tanning during the summer when I decided that the milk bottle, glow-in-the-dark look wasn't cute in a pair of shorts. I picked this up in my local pharmacy and after a spot of trial and error (my tentativeness in all honesty) I was a bronzed goddess and not the least bit Tangoed. A+

Fragrance

Katy Perry Killer Queen: The day I bought this, it was one of those days when I had no money to spare, but needed a pick me up something desperate. I just caved and bought it, and I'm so glad I did. It has a beautiful, fragrance, almost too sophisticated for the likes of a celebrity perfume. I've gotten many compliments on it when I wear it, too. I also have the corresponding lotion which makes me feel like a Killer Queen! Thanks, Katy!
Sure Women Bright 48hr: I wouldn't usually include something as basic as an antiperspirant but I've been very impressed with this since I picked it up. A little goes a long way, it has a lovely light scent and a tin lasts for months. I've been so taken by it, I bought a mini one for my handbag!

Make-Up

Catrice Prime and Fine Translucent Loose Powder: This is my holy grail powder. It goes with every foundation, whether I'm tanned or pale, and leaves my face looking like velvet. No white cast, no caking, no excuse not to invest in it!
MUA Blusher in Marshmallow: I picked this up in Newry when Chris and I went up there during the summer and I couldn't fault it if I tried. It makes me look healthy and gives me a natural flush. For £1, everyone should have some of these!
Natural Collection Eyeshadow in White Opal: Girls, if you need a good highlight for under your eyebrows, but are operating to a budget, this is for you. I picked this up when I was hard pressed to find a good highlight not just for under my brows, but for the tops of my cheeks too. It did the job very nicely.
Urban Decay Naked Basics: I don't know why I bought this, but it has been a staple in my collection since I did. So much can be done with it, even though there are six shadows in it - five matte and one with a sheen.

Lip Products

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub: Bough on a whim early last year, this little pot has traveled everywhere with me. I haven't even finished it yet, though there is a decent dent in it and I will have to invest in the Mint Juleps one soon.
Catrice Ultimate Color in 270 Matt-erial Girl: This lipstick is my favorite shade in my whole collection. I adore the bold, bright shade. I cannot say enough good things concerning this particular Catrice offering. I did buy an extra tube in case they discontinue it, though!

Nails:

OPI Nail Envy Original Formula: This stuff has been a complete miracle for my previously weak, brittle nails. It's not cheap, especially for a student but it is SO worth the money. I use it as an undercoat every time I paint my nails and it has not failed yet.
Rimmel London Finishing Touch Ultra Shine Topcoat: I picked this up on a whim towards the end of the year but I have not one bad word to say about it. It prolongs the life of every polish I have by at least a week, which is a big claim I know, but true. Everyone needs a bottle of this in their collection.

So there you have it, my 2013 Favorites as it were! What were your favorites in 2013? Let me know in the comments...

June BBC Day 11: A Bargain Buy You Would Recommend

Today I get to recommend bargain buys! This is what I'm good at, so strap in, it's gonna be a wild ride... In quite a gentle way, really!

Boots Natural Collection Moisture Shine Lipstick - Crimson
It saddens me to think that nobody willingly admits to owning these! I know plenty of people who dig their foundation, their powders, blush, every other part of the range, but overlook these beauties! At €3.09 a go, they are cheap as chips, and they're so comfy on! They have a cream finish, too! I am slowly accumulating a decent collection of lipsticks and these guys started the trend!

NYC Colour Expert Last Nail Polish - Bubblegum

I eyeballed this color every time I saw it for weeks until I finally bought it! €1.99 in Penneys hardly broke the bank, but it was more a stance on the amount of polish I had been buying in the lead up to my investment in this one! I had to be alone to get this one, because I had been with people who stopped me every time I tried to buy it in their company! It lasts pretty well, needing only two coats for opacity! Bargain polishes are good quality when you give them a chance!

Skin Wisdom Youth Protect Facial Wipes

I've spoken about these before, but I will just recommend these again because I can! These babies are 1.69 in Tesco and they rule!!! They take off every trace of mascara, and they don't irritate my face, which is super sensitive! I really can't say enough about these wipes only that you should try them! They're the bomb diggity!

What bargain buys do you recommend? What would you try from my 3 picks? Do you use budget brands? If not, why don't you dive in, and give these 3 products a try?

Amy,
xoxo

June BBC Day 10: Favorite Nail Polish

There's no way I can answer this. I'm a nail polish addict. I physically cannot pick a favorite. No way. Mm-mm, not happening!

What I can do is share what I'm currently loving.

Essie Watermelon, oh how I adore thee!! I bought it on Friday the 31st and repainted my nails every day with it until the following Wednesday. I've been hopelessly stuck on it, unlike so many of my other polishes!

2/3 coats for opacity, and it dries in double-quick time! Fan-tabulous!!

If you've been keeping up with this challenge, then you'll know I'm a Watermelon obsessive. I kept overlooking Essie because of the price-tag, but I could resist no longer.

€12.99 in Boots seems like a lot, but they are forever doing 3 for 2 deals, so keep your eyes open for bargain opportunities!

June BBC Day 8: Beauty Wishlist

Everyone has one of these. I challenge you to find me one beauty blogger who doesn't have a list of products they would love to possess... Some of these will be mine soon enough, though, all going well!!

My wishlist goes like this.

Nails
China Glaze: The Capitol Collection
I LOVED the books, and I love the first movie, so combined with my love of nail polish, I would have to give this collection a mention.

Addictions

Most of can attest to being hooked on something. Guys usually admit to it being video-games, or music, if they're really into sport, it could be something to do with that. One strange collection I've heard of guys having is beer mats. You know, those little cardboard coasters from pubs?! Bizarre, to say the least!

Girls, on the other hand, are a completely different story. If like myself, you like a nice manicure, then you will have heaps of nail polishes. Or you might well be like my mum and have a shoe collection that would fill a whole room.

I can personally admit to having a few obsessions.

Another Update... Including TWIM Vol. 2

Hey guys! Sorry I haven't posted in well over a week. I've been thinking about this blog for days and days but I've been so busy getting ready for Chris's ball, and then I was sick and exhausted, but I'm here now and I'm getting back on top of things. Yay!

First, let me start by posting some nail pics!

I rocked this all of last week.
The ring finger is an Urbanista Nail Foil...

Currently rocking this shade...
Essence Nude Glam
Iced Strawberry Cream
Both of these Essence polishes retail for €1.89 and the quality is amazing, completely rivaling the formula of some higher priced ones.

Next up!!
Suited and booted, ready to rock'n'roll!!

This Week In Manicures; Vol. 1

So I actually haven't really done much this week, aside from threaten to write this blog-post, but until today, there had been pretty much no fear of that happening when I was in bed wallowing in the fact my back was in bits!!

But now, my back is feeling less "Argh!!" and more "Meh!", so here I am, with a micro-haul, a super interesting (not really) post about my nails, and some random things I'm loving at the moment...

Without Further Ado...

Nails, Nails, Nails!

In my last post I detailed my recent foray into self improvement.

This post...? Well, this post is going to be me being super vain! :P

Naked Nails...Ah! Scary!!
So, the story begins!

Self Improvement And A New Series...

"Self-improvement is masturbation," Tyler Durden, Fight Club. Thankfully, this opinion doesn't really resonate with me, because I believe that self improvement makes people better versions of themselves.

Since I'm 21 now, which means I'm older, and therefore apparently wiser, I've decided I need to dress a bit better, and put a bit more effort into myself. Not just for me, but I have a boyfriend of 2 years who I think deserves to not have his girlfriend live in baggy tracksuit bottoms and oversize jumpers (even if they are warm and fuzzy...and stolen from his wardrobe half the time!!) because, lets face it, when you do that, it gets boring. And I don't want to bore my lovely man!

So, I've made three decisions and I'm going to stick to them.
