Soap And Glory MAC Dupe???

As you all know, my newest obsession is MAC Cremesheen Creme Cup Lipstick. 

I have worn it daily since I got it and I can't seem to part myself from it. It's gotten so bad I feel like I'm letting my blog name and reputation down with the obsession formed over this MAC lippie. 

However with that said, I've found a dupe for Creme Cup if its not exactly in your price range. Enter, stage left, Soap and Glory Fabu-Lipstick in "The Missing Pink". This is a satin finish pink nude.

So, how does it stack up against MAC Creme Cup?? 

The Missing Pink smells the same, and has the same lasting power but has a slightly duskier tone compared to Creme Cup. The finish is the same, that satin-feeling, super moisturising texture. On the whole, MAC comes off slightly pinker on the lips whereas Soap and Glory is a slightly more muted nude.

MAC has a tendency to show up more imperfections on the lip, and The Missing Pink seems to fill them in allowing for a more polished look all around. For a fraction of the price, you can have almost the same product with the exact same finish.

Review: S&G Some Like It Hot Thermal Scrub

After a long day, sometimes all you want is to get into the shower and have a good, therapeutic scrub. When I saw this in my local Boots, and on sale for under €6, no less so I knew I had to have it. It's just so nice...

This scrub has thermal minerals which are activated when it comes into contact with damp skin. This opens your pores, allowing the scrub to penetrate more deeply than a normal scrub. This is comparable to Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff, though it has a less abrasive texture, which means it can be used more frequently.

What I have been using it for, though it may not be designed for it, is to scrub my face 3 times a week. The heat allows my pores to open and makes a face mask more effective in drawing out impurities. A real winner for me.

Over all, this scrub is amazing and I am delighted I picked it up, on a complete whim.

Product Review: Soap And Glory Fabu-Lipstick

Ladies! How are we?!

I'm sure you know by now that I love Soap And Glory toiletries. I cannot get enough of their Sugar Crush Body Scrub, and I carry a bottle of their Body Spray around in my handbag religiously.

I reviewed their highlighting powder, Glow All Out last year and still find it wonderful as a highlight when I am sporting a tan. Every time I wander into a Boots shop, though, I pine over the Fabu-Lipstick in Pom Pom. Last weekend, though, there was a 3 for 2 offer on S&G, so I went for it!

Pom Pom is a deep berry shade with a matte finish, housed in a heavy brushed-steel tube decorated with the trademark S&G pink font. The bullet itself is detailed with an engraving of "S&G", much like you would find on a higher-end lip product. The scent is pleasant - reminiscent of sugared almonds-  and the finish is beautiful; Matte, but not in the least bit drying! I rocked this all day last Wednesday in the wind and cold of Dublin City Center with no issues at all!

Soap and Glory Super Color Fabu-Lipstick is 11.50 in Boots nationwide, and comes in a range of colors and finishes. I'm thrilled I finally invested in it, as it's really quite unique.

November Favorites - Beauty Edition

Hidihi, Campers!!

This months favorites is going to take the form of a blog-post, because at the moment, I'm buried under a steadily growing mountain of college work, and I haven't got time to film, never mind edit a video and upload it. I am, however, sitting at the computer and that means that taking a break from assignments mean I can tap out a blog post in double quick time, and in my pajamas to boot!

First on the line up, I have my EOS Lipbalm in Tropical Fruits. This was sent to me when I did a make-up swap with my lovely friend Kayleigh, from all the way over in Florida. During the month of October, I haven't left my house without this little ball of magic! It smells divine and it makes my lips feel so smooth, especially after using my Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub.

Next up, another American gift (does it still count as a gift if you asked for it?) from Kayleigh. The Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3 in 1 Foundation in the shade 801 Ivory. This is the lightest shade, as far as I am aware. This foundation is everything I look for in a foundation. It's great coverage, pretty spot on with my skin tone, and light as a feather. It's got some shine control but I like to be sure of that ability by using my next make-up favorite.

Rimmel London Fix and Perfect Pro Primer. This stuff lay unloved for the longest time in a drawer, because it made my skin feel strange, but I tried it again a few months back, and I haven't regretted it for one moment since. Used alongside my Covergirl foundation, my foundation doesn't crease, slip or wear away in trouble spots. A+

My Maybelline Brow Drama in Medium is my new favorite thing. For a few uses I took um-bridge with the feeling of my brows setting, but now I love it, because it sets my brows tidily but still allows me to raise an eyebrow at people who annoy me!! :D

Cocoa Brown 1 Hour Tan. This may be my last favorite of the month, but it's definitely not least. I had some trouble with this at first, as my skin didn't seem to react to the DHA after an hour (I was timid). The Cocoa Brown team on Twitter were quick to lend a hand and we figured out that I needed one layer left on for the full time of 3 hours to get a noticeable golden glow. If you are pale like myself, don't worry about leaving it on for the 3 hours maximum time, you wont come out Tangoed, I promise you. I am as pale as the driven snow, and yet, after using Cocoa Brown Tan, I had a natural golden glow.

Soap And Glory: Glow All Out

Soap & Glory are a brand synonymous with all thing sweet smelling and girly.

You only have to look at the packaging to see that. Pin-Up girls, pink, stars, and clever word-play are all part and parcel of their aesthetic. And, as most of us know, their bath and shower range are to die for. I, for one, would be lost without their Sugar Scrub and The Righteous Butter!

Today however, I took the plunge and picked up one of their make-up range in Boots. There is currently an offer on (3 for 2 on all S&G cosmetics) but since I didn't want to part with too much money, and since I am a highlight powder addict at the moment, I picked up their "Glow All Out", which is packaged as a "Luminizing Radiance Face Powder".



What It Says On The Back:

"Sweep a brush lightly across powder surface, then dust lightly onto your face, neck and shoulders (because that's the way it glows).

First, let me talk about the packaging. I am a sucker for a nicely packaged product and this is no different. It comes in a lovely white compact, adorned with a retro-style, black-and-white pin-up girl, emblazoned with "Glow All Out" in gold type, and festooned with stars. I adore it. The compact itself is made of heavy card, and has a magnetic closure.

Inside, you'll find a dinky mirror just the right size for touch ups on the go, and the pan of product.

The powder itself is pink-toned with a lovely sheen. It's buttery soft; We're talking Urban Decay levels of blendable, here! I am very impressed with it. It highlights nicely, without looking too stark, or being noticeably pink. Definitely one for my girls with a pink undertone.

I think that this is a gorgeous product, and well worth the money. I don't think it can be touched by budget brands like Catrice though, not when the quality is up there with high end labels like Urban Decay. It simply cannot be done.

€14 is quite reasonable for the size, and the quality, and hey, supermodel cheekbones for that price is pretty good by my standards!

June BBC Day 12: An Item You've Bought Because of Blogs/Vlogs

Today, I've to write about items I've bought because of reviews I've watched or read online. Where should I begin for this one?! I've a long list of things I've tried because of the hype given about a particular item online, but here's a coule that stick out in my mind!

Essie Nail Polish

This one is a bit of a cheat really, because I've really only paid attention to the reviews on the brand, rather than the shades. A couple of weeks back I was aimlessly testing out Dermalogica skincare in my local pharmacy when I noted a whole rack of Essie just hidden behind it. Queue me going politely nuts and scouring the rack for "Watermelon", a shade I've drooled over one too many times in Boots, and bee-lined to the cash-point. I am now a fully self-confessed Essie convert!!

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer

Next up, I want to talk about Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer. I stumbled across a post one day on The Glamour Nazi, talking about these highly pigmented, glossy offerings from Rimmel. At the time, I glossed over them (haha, geddit?!) and didn't pay them much heed... Until I found myself standing at the makeup section in Boots one day, and it was 3 for 2 across all make-up brands! I swatched one on my hand, and was smitten! I immediately snapped up "Big Bang", the red shade, that I've now miss-placed (stupid redecoration project!!) and  yesterday I got the bright fuchsia shade "Apocaliptic". Thanks, Dani, for planting the seed in my head!

Whats in My Bag?

I think its fair to say that this topic is almost strictly a YouTube phenomenon. All you have to do is search for "What's in my Bag" and you will be inundated with results. Yet I've only seen one blog post on the subject and it made me want to try my hand at replicating the topic here, on my beloved blog.

The Bag Itself

 

My bag is a Living Dead Souls studded tote style bag. Its the biggest handbag I own, and it's one of the oldest too. There is a lot of nostalgia attached to this bag, since it was bought during the height of the awkward Emo phase I had between the ages of 16-19. I purchased this bag in a sale in Showco, that fantastic little shop in Georges Street Arcade that sells socks, lingerie, hats, and a lot of random alternative gear! Its a great place if you can get there during a sale. I paid about €20 for it, but it was originally €50 or €60. It's lining is plain black fabric printed all over with the words "Living Dead Souls". It has two short handles, that cannot be unattached, and one long strap with randomly sized, but uniformly placed studs.

March Favorites

Now that the month of April is upon us, I think it's time to have a go at a monthly favourites type post!

I'm going to review products that I've loved consistently over the month of March and maybe, if I do okay at it, I'll make it a recurrence.

 Garnier Summer Body Gradual Tanning Lotion.

This lotion is AMAZING! The consistency is not greasy, nor is it sticky. It leaves your skin like velvet and after about 3 days I noticed a distinct difference. The tan is not orange at all, no trace of the "Oompa Loompa" even on my glow in the dark skin!
